Strikeout Suttons April 19th 2002

No gimmicks for this next crew up on stage. Strikeout are poised and ready for some good old-fashioned hardcore punk.

Kicking off with 'Pete's one' Damon is already well fired up, pelting out some major chords with a real passion and fused with some rotwieller vocals from Pete, these guys have come here tonight with the intention of bursting your skull.

'Always in my head' sees Matt, with his blisteringly high adrenalin levels, deliver a bruising performance, but track 5,'Brittany' is falling on mostly pre

-occupied teenage ears. The band are undeterred and charge through the next three sets with an unrelenting, high intensity onslaught of expletive filled rants, which loosens them up very nicely for My Life.

Straight into' Babe' and Pete takes his bass into his own hands and decides a visit to Moshville is required, which bolsters the rest of the band.

Meanwhile, Vikki remains lurking in the shadows, but, at last, warming to the crowd and sending out some nice spiky riffs.

Just as they're looking like they might actually being enjoying this playing live lark, Strikeout are rounding up their set with 'Matts1' whipping the crowd up to a pretty nice display of hair windmilling antics, to send is on our way with a deliberate pulverising of the lugholes.

Strikeout describes themselves as hardcore punks, and this is exactly what I found them to be.  Loads of traditional punk thrash, combined with a maximum raw and aggressive style that leaves not so much a mark, but an indentation on anybody within hearing distance.

If you're planning a trip to see Strikeout take my advice, and keep your first aid boxes handy
